What happens to my Sanlam group insurance cover if my employer had to suspend business operations due to the impact of COVID-19?

Many businesses had to close doors as a direct, or indirect result of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, as long as monthly premiums continue to be paid, you will remain covered for the benefits provided for according to the fund rules and/or the policy/ies.  

Depending on the specific benefits provided for by your fund or separate group life scheme, Sanlam will pay all death claims.  

However, contracting a virus may not automatically result in a disability or critical/severe illness claim.  A claim will be valid where the conditions for the claim are caused as a result of complications linked to infection by any bacteria or virus, and meets the contractual requirements. The virus can be COVID-19 or another virus.
